King was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence in Riverside County, California on 12 July (11) after he was found to have high levels of alcohol and marijuana in his system. But the Celebrity Rehab star escaped jail time by striking an agreement with prosecutors and instead pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving, according to TMZ.com. A judge sentenced King to three years summary probation and 20 days of house arrest. He was also ordered to enrol in a nine-month alcohol education programme and pay a $500 (GBP312.50) fine as well as court costs. Will Deepika get twice lucky with Rajnikanth?

Deepika Padukone may have walked out of 'Race 2' and there may be some trouble in paradise on the love front as well. However there is some good news awaiting her. While it is already confirmed that she would be doing 'Kochadaiyaan' with Rajnikanth, this isn't all. Apparently, her much hyped film 'Rana' hasn't been shelved either and there are some very strong indications that the film would be revived very soon. Since Deepika has already shot for the film, indications are that as and when 'Rana' is revived, she would be the front runner all over again and it would be a matter of adjusting dates. "Those associated with 'Rana' are clear that the film would be definitely made. Yes, Rajni Sir is currently doing 'Kochadaiyaan' but it is only a stop-gap arrangement before he roars again with 'Rana'. It is a known fact that he had to step into 'Kochadaiyaan' since his health didn't permit him to get into some heavy duty stunts and other physical stress. However this doesn't mean that 'Rana' has been shelved. It has only been on a backburner for a few months and Deepika too is well aware of that. Everything else that you hear is plain media gossip more than anything else," informs our source. This translates into the fact that Deepika as well as Sonu Sood, who too had been signed for the f
ilm, could find themselves back in 'Rana'. "That's true", an actor attached to the film adds, "In fact director of 'Rana', K.S. Ravikumar, hasn't even started any other project. If he wanted, he could have comfortably announced another film since Rajni Sir is busy. Still, he stays on to be attached to 'Rana' and is further working on the film's pre-production to ensure tha
t the moment he gets a green signal from the man at the hot seat, he is ready to call the shots. Let's not forget that the film is very close to Rajni Sir's heart as well. He has invested his heart, body and soul into devising 'Rana'. He is positive about bringing the film back on tracks." Thankfully Deepika won't be busy biting her nails in anticipation since 'Kochadaiyaan' and her other assignments would anyways keep her occupied. However we know for sure that she would be thrilled to bits with this rare double bill in the making as and when a concrete announcement comes her way for 'Rana' as well.

Ileana hits back at producer

A couple of days ago, producer Mohan Nadarajan alleged that Ileana D' Cruz failed to return the advance amount (Rs 40 lakh) she had taken from him, since the project he had originally planned with her was dropped. Now it's time for Ileana to explain herself. According to the actress's spokesperson, it has been clearly mentioned in the agreement between Ileana and Mohan Nadarajan that there was no necessity for the actress to pay back the advance amount if the project failed to take off."There is a legal clause in the contract that Ileana doesn't have to return the advance amount given to her. Mohan Nadarajan is free to take legal action against Ileana. We are ready to face it," the spokesperson said.Stating that the producer had already approached the Producers Council in Telugu industry with the same complaint, the spokesperson said the Council rejected his plea after going through the agreement.

sex COIN from the Roman Empire found it in the Thames
The girl lay on a stone bed in the tiny cubicle, awaiting her next customer with weary resignation. In Londinium, there was no shortage of men wanting a few moments of sexual pleasure: merchants, officials, freed slaves from around the Roman Empire and, of course, soldiers. Sure enough, the flimsy curtain was drawn back and a Roman legionary entered the room. He handed over a small bronze token. The girl looked at it. The image on the front depicted the act he required — it showed a woman face down on a couch and a man on top of her. On the reverse, the number 14 referred to the price he had paid: 14 asses, the equivalent of a day’s pay for a labourer in the first century AD — not that the girl would see any of that money. For the girl would have been a slave, possibly a native Briton captured in the rebellious north of the country — enslaving women was one Roman way of subjugating and humiliating these savage tribes. Some ended up in Rome, where their fair skin and blonde hair could fetch a high price. This slave’s body was now a commodity, part of the flourishing sex trade that helped sustain the Roman Empire. The soldier’s business over, he probably returned to his camp, stopping to visit a tavern for some wine. Or he may have preferred the local brew: Roman garrisons are known to have purchased beer from London’s pubs. Meanwhile, the girl would have handed over the token to the brothel keeper — possibly a freed slave, a Roman or an enterprising Briton. Somehow it ended up in the mud of the Thames where, 2,000 years later, it has recently been found by amateur archaeologist Regis Cursan with a metal detector. He has donated it to the Museum of London, where it will now be on display for three months. Curator Caroline McDonald believes it may be evidence of the seamier side of Roman life: ‘London was a supply base for the army. There would have been merchants going there from all around the empire, and part of the new economy that sprung up may have been the sex trade.’ She says that with so many single men around — legionaries signed up for 25 years and weren’t allowed to marry — brothels sprung up across Britain. ‘They were usually situated near the bath houses, and the army would have allowed soldiers this kind of outlet for their energy,’ says Caroline. It is not the only evidence of the sex trade in Roman Britain.

Berlin 2012: Disney's 'Maleficent' Will Be Angelina Jolie's Next Starring Role

BERLIN -- Disney's Maleficent will be Angelina Jolie's next movie. Jolie, speaking at a crowded news conference Saturday at the Berlin International Film Festival, where her feature directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey is screening out of competition, brought up the project -- without directly mentioning a title -- when asked about the next step in her career. "I haven't acted in two years, and I haven't done anything else since this [Land of Blood and Honey]. The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie," said the actress. Jolie also had been eyeing a Luc Besson movie that had been set to start production in April, but that project appears to be off the table, insiders say. In an interview with THR in December, she suggested she probably couldn't do both, since Maleficent could get under way by the end of this year or early next year. Maleficent has gained momentum in recent weeks with Robert Stromberg brought on as director. Stromberg was the production designer on Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and Disney's upcoming Oz the Great and Powerful. Jolie has long been toying with the idea of playing the famous sorceress in the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. In the December interview with THR, she also revealed her children want her to make the movie and even call her "mom-elicent." She's also eager to make a live-action family film after her experience voicing the Kung Fu Panda franchise. "The best thing to find that balance is to do something that is just for children," Jolie said Saturday. "You know, you find different ways to make things matter. When, for example, you do fun action movies, they are empowering for my daughters."Jolie told THR in December that she adores screenwriter Linda Woolverton's revisionist take on the fairy tale and the complex relationship between Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty. Jolie's Bosnian War drama Blood and Honey was nominated for a Golden Globe for best foreign-language film."Out of all the films I have ever made, it's the one that means the most to me and is the most true to what I believe in and the closest to my heart. It will be very, very hard to do something else," she said.
