Vikram's secret role in 'Thaandavam'

The 'Thaandavam' team is holding with it some important, yet interesting secrets. One among them is that Vikram will be seen as a police officer and another is a visually challenged man as reported earlier.
"Vikram recently met a visually impaired man in the United States, who can do some stunts on par with those with vision. The highlight is that he can ride a bike. The Chiyaan learnt some techniques from him," sources reveal. Directed by A L Vijay of 'Madrasapattinam' and 'Deivathirumagal' fame, 'Thaandavam' is being produced by UTV Motion Pictures. Anushka Shetty and Amy Jackson are the leading ladies, while music is by G V Prakash Kumar. Recently, the director made an announcement that Lakshmi Rai has been roped in for a crucial role. The actress is expected to join the sets soon. Among other important aspects of 'Thaandavam', Tollywood actor Jagapathi Babu plays the antagonist.

Arya in 'Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam'?

The Tamil remake of 'Delhi Belly', in which Arya will play the lead role, has been reportedly titled 'Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam'. No prizes for guessing that the title has been inspired by a funny organization run by Kaipulla (Vadivelu) in 'Winner'.
To be produced by UTV Motion Pictures which made the original version, 'Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam' will be directed by Kannan, who helmed movies such as 'Jayam Kondan', 'Kanden Kadhalai' and 'Vandhan Vendraan'. Besides Arya, the movie will have many popular faces in pivotal characters. With the 'Boss Engira Baskaran' hero playing the role played by Imran Khan in the Bollywood version, Santhanam will replace Kunaal Roy Kapur. Premgi Amaran will reprise Vir Das, while Hansika Motwani and Anjali will do the characters of the airhostess and a journalist. The shooting is touted to kick start on May 7 in Chennai. John Mahendran, who directed Vijay starrer 'Sachein', has been entrusted with the task of penning dialogues for this film. Meanwhile, sources say though the title 'Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam' has almost been confirmed, names such as 'Settai' and 'Vai Raja Vai' are also under consideration.

Shiv Pandit proud about 'Leelai'

Shiv Pundit, the Punjabi boy who played the lead role in 'Leelai', is happy that the film has been well received in Tamil Nadu. "I am thrilled to know that theatres screening Leelai witnessed 95 per cent occupation in the opening weekend," he says. "I am proud to make my debut as an actor in Kollywood, which has launched huge talents. While I am interested to do more Tamil movies, Leelai's destiny in the box-office will decide my future here," he says. On how he landed in 'Leelai', Shiv Pundit says, "I was a model and Leelai producer spotted me in one of those advertisements. In fact, it was his mother who strongly recommended me for the role on seeing the ad. That's how it happened."
Recalling that he was trained by a coach to get his dialogues right, Shiv adds: "I knew it would be a problem to understand the dialogues. So I learned the nuances of Tamil from a coach in Mumbai. I guess I have managed."

Vishal's 'Samaran' becomes 'Samar'

Director Thiru of 'Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai' fame has rechristened his forthcoming film 'Samaran', starring Vishal in the lead role, as 'Samar'. "We thought Samar would be more catchy than Samaran and hence the decision," he says.With Trisha and Sunaina playing the heroines, 'Samar', an action adventure movie, is being produced by Balaji Real Media, which produced 'Osthe' before. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja."We shot some important scenes in Thailand recently. Once again we are planning a fresh schedule in Thailand, which will start after May 10. We will shoot there for 24 days. In the meantime, we are also planning to release a single number from the movie," Thiru adds.Stating that attempts are on to wrap the shooting soon and release the movie in July, Thiru, who is happy about working with Vishal after 'Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai', says the actor is hard working and dedicated.

Rajini shoots in Mohanlal's studio!

It was earlier reported that the cast and crew of Superstar Rajinikanth's magnum opus, 'Kochadaiyaan', were shooting at the renowned Chitranjali studio. The latest is that they are now canning at Mollywood's top notch star Mohanlal's studio Vismaya Max Studio! The post production work is taking place in a full swing in this studio that has all the amenities required to edit an animation flick. The place is a media free zone with high level security, as it is for most of the Thalaivar movies. Scenes and songs featuring Rajini and Deepika Padukone were reportedly shot in a Kerala studio. Sources further have it that Rajinikanth looks wow in and as 'Kochadaiyaan'. The performance motion capture film has an ensemble of stars in the lead including Rajini, Deepika Padukone, Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Jackie Shroff, Shobana, Rukimini and several others. Music is by AR Rahman. The shoot will be wrapped in a couple of days following which the post-production work will begin for this biggie! 'Kochadaiyaan' will release come September.

Tamannah to endorse Fanta!

Tamannah who is a popular and a favourite name among movie goers in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh will endorse one of the leading soft drink labels, Fanta!

Joining the already glam team of UTV Motion Pictures' 'Thaandavam' is Lakshmi Rai. After Anushka Shetty and Amy Jackson, this 'Kanchana' & 'Mankatha' girl plays the third female lead and she will join the crew in London some time next week. It is said that
Rai has allotted a chunk of 25 days for the film. The shooting in London will be on till mid - June. Music that is by GV Prakash will be unveiled in July and the makers are planning to release the film by August or September. The actress reached the next level in Kollywood as she was a part of two blockbusters last year, 'Mankatha' and 'Kachana', in varied roles, with negative shades and as a glam doll. Ileana denies rift with Priyanka

Ever since Ileana D' Cruz announced her foray into Bollywood with UTV Motion Pictures' 'Barfi', there were reports that she had a tiff with Priyanka Chopra, the other heroine of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer.
But the 'Nanban' and 'Kedi' actress denies it. "I am not a great friend with Priyanka. But at the same time, we did not have any fight on the sets. She is a nice person, I must admit," Ileana says. On the film and her character in it, Ileana says, "I play Shruti, an interesting personality. I was introduced to Anurag Basu through a common friend and he was convinced that I could do the role." Clearing the air that she has not bid adieu to southern movies, the actress says, "Signing Bollywood projects doesn't mean that I will not act in Telugu or Tamil. After all, acting is my profession and I have to do justice to it."

STR & team 'Podaa Podi' in Hong Kong

STR and team 'Podaa Podi' are currently in Hong Kong shooting for a dance number for this dance musical.

According to sources, a couple of songs are being shot on Simbu and heroine Varalaxmi in Hong Kong and the schedule will go on for a week at least. Incidentally, the actor fell sick, due to the sudden climate change. "Fell sick yesterday ... Kinda ok today but have a lot of dancing shots so hope I will be fine soon," wrote Simbu on his microblogging page. After some time, he tweeted: "Heavy rain and not able to shoot :( hope it stops soon!!!" Besides 'Podaa Podi', Simbu has gangster flick 'Vettai Mannan' directed by his friend Nelson. Jai will be seen in an important role and VTV Ganesh along with STR will provide comic relief. He also has 'Vada Chennai' with Vetrimaaran.

Suba to write, Ajith to speak

Vishnuvardhan is gearing up to start his comeback venture in Kollywood, which will have Ajith playing the lead role. The director has roped in writer-duo Suba to pen the dialogues.

Suresh and Balakrishnan, who write under the pen name Suba, are popular for their work in 'Ayan' and 'Ko'. They are now busy holding discussions with Vishnuvardhan to shape up the Ajith starrer. "It will be an action flick with suspense and fun elements. Vishnuvardhan, who is credited with giving a new look to Ajith in 'Billa', is determined to dish out a full-fledged treat to the 'Thala' fans," sources say. Yuvan Shankar Raja, the lucky mascot of both Ajith and Vishnuvardhan, will compose music for the flick, which will hit the floors soon. Besides this, Ajith has also signed a movie for Vijaya Productions, to be helmed by Shiva of 'Siruthai' fame

Rahman: I am back

Though he was constantly in the news for all good reasons, there was not a single Tamil film from AR Rahman last year. But things are no more the same, as the Oscar-Grammy winner is currently working on a slew of films in Kollywood.

"It's a kind of comeback for me. I am compensating my absence," said the music maestro, adding that he is busy with some interesting projects (Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kochadaiyaan' and Mani Ratnam's 'Kadal'). Also in the pipeline for Rahman are Bharat Bala's 'Mariyaan' with Dhanush, Gautham Vasudev Menon's 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru' with Vijay and Shankar's forthcoming film which is expected to kick start soon. Meanwhile, the big buzz is that Rahman would foray into television, in association with Gautham Vasudev Menon. It is said that he would compose music for a TV serial, which is to be directed by Gautham.

Ever since the announcement of the Tamil blockbuster 'Vettai' remake in Hindi by UTV, figment of imaginations by some overenthusiastic media persons has gone haywire. All rumors are finding the slots with the facts remaining untouched. We at IndiaGlitz would like to disclose certain facts regarding the movie and clear all the speculations regarding the remake which stars B-town's Prince Charming Shahid Kapoor in the lead. First of all UTV and Shahid Kapoor are keen to do this project which will be helmed by Lingusamy who directed the original blockbuster which starred Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul. Last month Lingusamy was in Mumbai to chalk out editions and renovations for the Hindi remake. Neither Asin nor Sonakshi have been approached for the film. A trusted source for the production company explains on condition of anonymity, "Since nothing has been finalized we as a corporate company are waiting for the right time for the official announcement." We would to recollect that after the release of Jodi Breakers Madhavan met with an accident and currently he is nursing his wounds. Shahid is excited to do this movie which promises full on entertainment which will boost his career and silence his critics. In fact Shahid was ready to push other assignments ahead to accommodate the remake," Once the final script for the Hindi remake is ready and UTV, Shahid and Lingusamy are okay with it other things will be finalized. Shahid and UTV want to make sure that nothing goes wrong and are willing to give more time before going public on this.

Aishwarya Dhanush's next soon

The director in Aishwarya R Dhanush is not ready to take a break. Within weeks after the release of her maiden film '3', the elder daughter of the Superstar is ready to start her next venture, but without Dhanush on board. "I can't wait to start my next film. In fact, I can't sit idle for a long time. I love to work and I feel very much home on the sets," says the mother of two, who strikes a fine balance between work and home. Stating that her mother Latha Rajinikanth and in-laws support her in taking care of her two children - Linga and Yatra - Aishwarya adds this makes her to concentrate fully on work, without any diversion. Vijay: Murugadoss is 'Kutti Mani Ratnam'

Vijay has likened filmmaker AR Murugadoss, with whom he is working for 'Thupaki', to the country's ace director Mani Ratnam. "He is sharp and smart, yet so simple. I would call him Kutti Mani Ratnam," says the Ilayathalapathy. "I had acted in only a very few commercial films which are stylish as well. Thupaki is one such movie. All credits go to Murugadoss. He gives huge importance to even minute details," says the actor. 'Engeyum Kadhal' dub releases big tomorrow!

The film that's a dub of 'Engeyum Kadhal', a Tamil flick, is releasing with 75 prints in Andhra Pradesh alone! The film is being released in Telugu by AGS Entertainment's Kalpathi S Aghoram. Directed by multi-faceted Prabhu Deva, the film has music by Harris Jayaraj that has already become chartbusters and a favourite among movie lovers in Tollywood. Prabhu Deva, Harris Jayaraj, Ravi and Hansika are all popular faces in Andhra Pradesh as well and thus the expectation on the film is mounting high. Court restricts '3' videos on net

The Madras High Court on Thursday restrained internet service providers (ISPs) and others from infringing on the producer's copyright by communicating, duplicating or downloading of Dhanush-starrer '3' in any manner without proper license. Granting the interim injunction on a civil suit by R K Productions Private Limited, Justice KBK Vasuki ordered notice to the respondents and posted the application for further hearing on April 18. The Judge also permitted the producer to publish the injunction order in Tamil and English newspapers to make the order known to all concerned. Plaintiff R K Productions contended the motion picture was produced on a budget of Rs 22 crore. The film, famous for 'Kolaveri Di' song, went on to become an international sensation. The telecommunication service providers, Internet service and cable TV providers have not entered into any license agreement with the applicant on communication of the applicant's film. The producer apprehended that as and when its film was released in theatres, acts of piracy would also commence. Such acts would cause serious loss to the applicant's business.

Kamal's next with Ameer?

Now that he is no more part of Bharathiraja's 'Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum' and with his directorial venture 'Aadhi Bhagavan' getting delayed, Ameer seems to be making some smart moves. The director is planning a film with Kamal Haasan. "Sometime back Kamal Haasan and I discussed about working together. But things could not materialize as we both became busy with our respective projects. I am now planning to do a movie with him," says the filmmaker. Ameer is a big admirer of Kamal and even wanted to work an assistant director to the Ulaganayagan. Likewise, Kamal has appreciated Ameer's movies a lot, especially the National Award winning 'Paruthiveeran'. The 'Mounam Pesiyadhey' maker is hoping to release 'Aadhi Bhagavan', starring 'Jayam' Ravi in the lead role, by June. "Around that time, Kamal will also finish Viswaroopam. I will soon meet him to discuss our project", he signs off.

'The Dirty Picture' in Tamil - Telugu with Anushka?
